1. Find the Right Wheel Spacers for Your Jetta
When shopping for wheel spacers, you have several options to consider. Wheel spacers range in thickness (between 3mm and 23mm), and they're either hub centric or lug centric. This guide should help you determine the best wheel spacer size and design for your Jetta.

2. Lift Your Jetta
When you have a set of wheel spacers available, the first thing you need to do is to lift your Jetta. You can do this with a floor jack and jack stands. Be sure to put the floor jack saddle directly underneath the crossmember. When you prop your car up on jack stands, be sure to put the jack stands under the jacking points. Your owner's manual should tell you where the jacking points are on your Jetta.
3. Remove One of the Wheels
With a lug nut or impact wrench, remove all of the lug nuts holding the wheel in place. Next, pull the wheel off of the hub assembly.
4. Install the Wheel Spacer

To get good results, there are several critical steps:
- Remove any rotor retaining washers that are present.
- Test fit the spacer to make sure the lug studs do not protrude past the spacer.
- Use a wire brush to remove any corrosion from the face of the wheel hub. This needs to be thoroughly done. Any rust that is present can cause the spacer to be mounted not perfectly parallel to the hub. As little as .002" variance can be felt as a vibration.
- Wire brush the studs to remove any corrosion from the threads. This allows the thread-locker to work well.
- Use a thread-locker when installing the nuts that hold the spacers in place. When choosing the thread-locker, follow the recommendations of the spacer manufacturer.
- Take care to not get any thread-locker between the hub face and the spacer, especially if using red thread-locker. This can make the spacer very difficult to remove.
- Keep in mind that it can be difficult to remove nuts when red thread-locker has been used. Sometimes a torch must be used to heat the nut and stud.
- Torque the lug nuts that hold the spacer onto the hub to the correct spec. Use a criss-cross pattern when tightening the nuts.
Problems reported with spacers can typically be traced back to incorrect installation. It is critical to correctly install the spacer. Contact us or the spacer manufacturer if you have any questions about this step.
5. Mount the Wheel
Some spacers come with lug studs installed to mount the wheels. Others come with ball seat bolts that attach the wheels to the spacer. The spacer manufacturer is usually following the lead of the OEM when choosing the spacer mounting method. In either case, it is important that the lug nuts (or ball seat bolts) be tightened to the correct spec using a torque wrench. The spacer manufacturer will provide the torque spec. Use a criss-cross pattern when tightening.
6. Repeat With the Rest of the Wheels on Your Jetta
